Dr. Tushar T. Palve was born and brought up in Nashik on the 14th of October 1977 in a village with a population of less than 2,000 as the first doctor. Despite belonging to a farmer’s family and lacking a medical background, the leap he made is admirable.
Dr. Tushar T. Palve is a well-known gynecologist and obstetrician in Mumbai. He is a distinguished figure in the medical field, boasting over a decade of dedicated experience in gynecology and obstetrics.
At present, he is the Medical Superintendent of Cama and Albless Hospital. And now he has been appointed as the Vice Dean of GMC Medical College (GT and Cama Hospital). Over the last 18 years, he has been an associate professor and UG/PG guide at Grant Government Medical College.
Beyond his clinical role, his contribution to COVID-19 treatment and vaccination as the Medical Superintendent of Cama Hospital is commendable and admirable. His Mission Impossible :
Mumbai, November 17, 2023: COVID; post-abuse trauma; breast cancer; complicated pregnancy C risky childbirth— women have been facing serious, life-threatening health issues. A good doctor can always help manage these peculiar health problems in women. Dr. Tushar Tatyaba Palve, Superintendent of the Cama and Albless Hospital, is on a mission to provide that much-needed expert help to innumerable women patients in and around the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. He is relentlessly pursuing his mission to ensure good health for women even before the pandemic struck.
Role in COVID-1G (Pandemic) :
Dr. Tushar Palve was appointed as the Superintendent of the Cama C Albless Hospital in March 2020 during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the head of the hospital and nodal officer for COVID, Dr. Tushar Palve went beyond the call of duty to ensure the successful treatment of about 1,600 COVID patients and 60 COVID- infected babies, with a mortality rate of a mere 0.06 percent.
Participation in COVID-1G Vaccination :
Vaccination was a critical element in winning the war against COVID. Dr. Tushar Palve led from the front here as well, conducting a whopping 75 vaccination camps. The COVID Vaccination Center (CVC) vaccinated close to 1.4 lakh citizens over time, ensuring safety for all.
Role in Breast Cancer Awareness :
In the next important step, Dr. Tushar Palve targeted the rising breast cancer issue in the MMR. Breast cancer can be treated successfully if detected at an early stage. Dr. Tushar Palve conducted breast cancer awareness sessions and screening camps in remote areas of Thane, Palghar, Shahapur, and underprivileged areas of Mumbai. About 430 women were screened, and around 20% of them had breast cancer! Thankfully, they could start treatment immediately. These screening and awareness camps are also being held at various government offices, banks, court premises, and rural areas. These initiatives are important and helpful for women who cannot access or afford mammography and other related tests.
Role in PRP treatment :
He has also initiated the platelet -rich plasma treatment for women at Cama and Albless hospital. This will help in improving the immature spermatozoa in the ovaries of women, as well as help to maintain pregnancy.
Initiative in One-Stop Center :
One of the most important and modern aspects of women’s healthcare is trauma care. With the initiative of Dr. Tushar Palve, a One-Stop Crisis (OSC) Center is set to start very soon at Cama Hospital. The OSC will focus on providing a safer and more comfortable environment for survivors of gender-based violence. It will be the first such center in a women’s hospital in Mumbai. The OSC will be set up under the central government’s Nirbhaya Fund. The OSC will have five beds, along with access to counselors and lawyers to assist victims of domestic abuse.
Hospital Renovation :
Dr. Tushar Palve led the renovation and modernization of all wards at the Cama Hospital over time. This directly benefits the patients who now have access to the latest healthcare infrastructure.
Contribution Towards the Environment :
Dr. Tushar Palve also has a green thumb—he has created a Miyawaki forest within the limited space of the Cama Hospital with the help of Keshav Srushti, an NGO. This Miyawaki forest is now home to a total of 125 species of flora and fauna. The total number of trees planted and growing happily in this forest is over 2500! More importantly, this forest is maintained with great love by the authorities involved.

Dr. Tushar T. Palve has always been honored for being a pioneer. Behind this is his vision, passion for innovation, work ethic, consistency, and follow-through to complete the work undertaken.
He is a pioneer and has the honor of starting the first IVF center and urogynecological department in Cama Hospital in Maharashtra State for infertility relief and women’s urogynecological problems.
The solution to changing lifestyles and the resulting increase in infertility is the creation of IVF centers. However, the IVF procedure is expensive and available only in private hospitals, making it unaffordable for common families. Recognizing this need, with the initiative of Dr. Tushar Palve and following up with the government, an IVF center has been started at Cama Hospital within just one year. Dr. Tushar Palve has the honor of being the Nodal Officer/Director of the IVF Center in this first government hospital.
Years of Service and Contributions :
Dr. Tushar Palve’s journey as Medical Superintendent at Cama Hospital is remarkable and admirable. His work spans a wide range of medical fields, including obstetrics and gynecology, family planning, oncology, laparoscopic gynecology and oncology, and high-risk obstetrics.
His unit has performed more than 10,000 surgeries, including oncology-related surgeries, laparoscopy, obstetrics, and gynecology. Not only in the Cama Hospital, but also in various rural camps, small and large surgeries are performed by his team.
He has held important responsibilities such as Team Head, Associate Professor, Medical Superintendent, Committee Member, and Chairperson in St. George and JJ Hospitals. Recently, he has become the Vice Dean of GMC Medical College of GT and Cama and Albless Hospital. He has been serving as Associate Professor at Grant Government Medical College and JJ Hospital for the past eighteen years.
Similarly, he has a lot of experience as a medical teacher. In addition, he has worked as an Associate Professor for postgraduate and undergraduate students. Along with medicine, he has also taught postgraduate and undergraduate nursing students.
He has also worked as a chairperson and judge at national conferences. He has presented papers on various topics at many conferences. Many of his research papers on COVID-19 have been published. Dr. Tushar Palve has symbolically enriched medical education literature, contributing numerous articles and research essays to various reputed journals. He has more than 50 publications to his credit in various national and international journals.
